About Trust & Grow

Our Mission

We help educational and organizational systems become more trauma-informed, equity-centered, and emotionally intelligent. Our work guides clients in understanding the impact of trauma and ACEs, implementing healing-centered SEL, disrupting outdated systems, and fostering environments that prioritize safety, belonging, and joy.

  • Support systems in becoming more trauma-informed.

  • Conduct trauma-informed systems audits and co-create school improvement plans.

  • Equip staff and stakeholders with practical strategies to reduce the effects of trauma in the classroom.

  • Deepen understanding of the impact of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) on the whole child’s health and wellness.

  • Train staff on implementing SEL through a trauma-informed lens.

  • Disrupt outdated systems to advance equity.

At Trust and Grow Consulting, we believe that trust—in oneself and in others—is the bedrock of growth, opening doors to new opportunities and fostering the resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges.

Josh Novick, MA, LPC

Josh Novick is a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Trust and Grow Consulting. With over a decade of experience in education, trauma intervention, and mental health advocacy, Josh is passionate about helping people and communities navigate trauma and discover their capacity for resilience and growth.

His career began as a social studies teacher at alternative high schools in Chicago, including one operating within Malcolm X College. It was here that he witnessed firsthand the profound impact of trauma, particularly gun violence, on young people, especially BIPOC teenagers in underserved communities. This experience inspired him to dedicate his career to understanding trauma and helping others recover and thrive.

In July 2022, following the Highland Park Fourth of July parade tragedy, Josh co-led the emergency response center at Highland Park High School. He organized and mobilized over 600 volunteer therapists in just five days to provide immediate support to those affected. As a member of the Recovery Team, Josh played a vital role in guiding stakeholders through recovery efforts while laying the groundwork for future resiliency programming. His leadership during this time earned him the Illinois State Senate Award. Josh holds a BS in Social Studies Education from Indiana University and a MA in School Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University.

Today, through Trust and Grow Consulting, Josh continues to support communities and professionals by fostering post-traumatic growth, psychological safety, and resilience, collaborating with schools, organizations, and communities to create safer, more supportive environments.

Together, we can build spaces of safety, connection, and resilience. Let's connect!
